I received some recent correspondence asking me why I had not let my constituents know the town of Camillus was considering the co-sponsorship of a YMCA and it was going to go in Camillus Park.
My answer to them was I didn’t tell them because it isn’t true.
Upon some investigation I found out the source of the incorrect information and had a meeting with one of the members of the group who are promoting bringing a YMCA/Community Center into Camillus.
This group is not affiliated with the Town of Camillus or its board. They have come before our Town Board to promote their cause but there was no approval or agreement that we would be involved in its sponsorship.

Thursday was the first time even seasoned legislators and county officials could remember a meeting to override budget vetoes. It was complete with intense debates, but in the end only three of County Executive Joanie Mahoney’s eleven vetoes were overridden.
“I think it’s a travesty,” said Republican 14th District Legislator Casey Jordan, “I think today was a dark day in County history with these types of tax increases and I guess I’m really disappointed in what happened today.”
