WATER CONSERVATION AND ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE DUE TO WATER TRANSMISSION MAIN REPAIR

The Onondaga County Water Authority (OCWA) is continuing repairs to transmission mains which supplies water to customers in the Town of Camillus, Town of Geddes, and portions of the Town of Van Buren. The work, to be undertaken Wednesday, April 13th involves the replacement of a 24” valve and approximately 50 feet of 24” main. The work being completed is being done to address a leak located near the intersection of Milton Avenue and West Genesee Street in the Village of Camillus. Once this round of work is completed OCWA will have addressed a bottleneck in the transmission mains and should allow for future work to be completed with less disruption to the affected customers.

As a result of the shutdown and work to be completed on April 13th, flow to the water distribution system will be greatly reduced for several hours. OCWA is again asking customers to conserve water for the duration of the outage.

A map of this area where users will be asked to conserve water while the repair is being made is attached (see map) and indicates that customers affected include those in the following areas:

Town of Camillus

Westvale and Fairmount areas in the Town of Geddes

Village of Solvay

Village of Camillus

Jack’s Reef area and Warners area in the Town of Van Buren

Updates with respect to the timing of the repair will be posted on OCWA’s web site and notices will be provided to the local media as well. Also, conservation tips are posted on the OCWA web site (see tips) .
