West Genesee St Paving Project Public Information Meeting.

The Onondaga County Department of Transportation will hold a Public Information Meeting to discuss roadway improvements to West Genesee Street in the Town of Camillus. The meeting will be held between 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 31st, 2011 at:

Town of Camillus Town Hall
4600 West Genesee Street
Syracuse, NY 13031

The meeting was originally scheduled for May 26th, 2011 however, due to conflicting community events, the date of the meeting has been changed to May 31st. A brief formal presentation is planned for 6:00 P.M. followed by an open house to review preliminary plans, ask questions, and provide comments and concerns.

The proposed project begins at the intersection with NYS Route 173 (Onondaga Road) and proceeds westerly along West Genesee Street for approximately 3 miles to the intersection with Munro Road. The project is primarily a resurfacing project, and currently is in the preliminary design phase.

The West Genesee Street corridor will be milled and paved to restore the pavement. As part of the work, shoulders, drainage, and traffic signal timings will be improved, and sidewalk will be installed where warranted. Other possible improvements include the installation of bicycle lanes, and incorporating green infrastructure solutions in line with Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney’s “Save the Rain” campaign to reduce storm water runoff.

The project is being progressed by Onondaga County, with involvement from the New York State Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration.

Questions regarding this meeting may be forwarded to Christopher Rauber, a Civil Engineer for the Onondaga County Department of Transportation, who can be contacted by telephone at (315)435-3176, or by e-mail at ChrisRauber@ongov.net.
