Summer Bake Sale at Maxwell

The Friends of Maxwell are baking in July – and not just from the heat. The sale will be Monday, July 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. and Tuesday, July 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Maxwell Memorial Library.

July 10, 2010 A Show for the Whole Family — Free Admission!

Spirit of America Band, the award-winning marching band from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, brings its 2010 Midwest Tour to a close in Camillus, New York. Join the band for their final performance of Exploration! at West Genesee High School, Turf Stadium, on Saturday, July 10 at 8 pm. Admission is free!

At 8:00 pm on Saturday, July 10 at Genesee High School, Turf Sadium, Spirit of America presents Exploration: a show for all ages. The band transforms a football field into a giant outdoor stage: sets, costumes, lights, dance, precision marching, and music from Aaron Copland, the Broadway hit “Wicked”, themes from “Shrek”, “Rudy”, and more, combine to tell the story of Exploration! Audiences will meet Annie, a young photographer who has lost her stardust: her true calling, and go with her on an inspiring adventure, as she meets famous historical figures who help her reclaim her passion, and share it with the world. Young and old alike will enjoy this story, that teaches us the joy of giving the best of ourselves to everyone we meet.

Spirit of America Band is a multi-generational, volunteer, musical organization, dedicated to the pursuit of the ideals upon which our country was founded: Patriotism, Teamwork and Excellence. Through the medium of music and marching, Spirit of America upholds these values, inspiring the youth of America and audiences of all ages throughout the world through workshops and performances.

Maxwell Library Friday Fun

Every Friday at 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for children ages 5-11 from July 2 to August 13.
This is a fun craft and story program with an emphasis on water in and around our world.

Free Kayak Seminar June 15 @ Maxwell.

Kathy Kitt, The owner of The Camillus Kayak Shop, will be giving a free seminar for all ages interested in learning about kayaking at The Maxwell Memorial Library June 15 at 6:30pm

There are many local places to kayak, including Camillus itself. So this should be fun and informative for the whole family.

Registration for the 2010 Pop Warner season is set for Saturday June 19th and Sunday June 20th from 10:00 AM till 1:00 PM at Shove Park.

Octagon House Father’s Day Strawberry Festival

The Octagon House Father’s Day Strawberry Festival will be held Fathers Day June 20 from 12 – 4pm at 5420 W. Genesee St. The event costs $3 to $5 with strawberries, shortcake and ice cream available. Admission for fathers with family is free.

Fairmount Community Church Annual Flea Market & Craft

Fairmount Community Church will hold their Annual Flea Market & Craft Sale on June 19th, 2010 from 9AM to 4PM.

Vendors still wanted for the 90 or so spots. Call the Church office to reserve a space. 487-8521.

Orchard Village Annual Garage Sale

Orchard Village will hold its annual Garage Sale this Saturday June 5, starting at 9am and lasting until 3pm. Also, in conjunction with the garage sale, there will be a sponsored sale by the Friends of Maxwell to support Maxwell Library at 162 Forrest Way in Orchard Village.

19th Camillus Memorial Day Run.

FleetFeet is holding the 19th Camillus Memorial Day Run. Start time is 9:28 on May 31st, Village of Camillus, 1st block west of West Genesee Street and Newport Road. This is an opportunity to run the same route the 1996 Olympic Torch followed on the way to Atlanta and then be greeted by the 15,000 or so parade spectators as you finish. Preregistration is $10 and $15 the day of the event.

Camillus Memorial Day Parade and Events.

There will be a Memorial Day Ceremony Monday May 31st at the Municipal Building at 8am in from of the Veterans Memorial (Turner Ave. side)

The Parade will start a 9:30 on Main Street in the village.

1pm American Legion/VFW Ceremony at The Gillie Lake Veterans Memorial Park (Sands Road Entrance)

The village is also holding a carnival at Munro Park Friday May 29th through Monday May 31st. Ride tickets are available at the Village hall, Library and participating businesses.
