One local and one state elected official have requested that the EPA and DEC conduct a health assessment of the proposed DEC project at the Camillus SCA (sediment containment area), which is part of the state and federal plan to clean up Onondaga Lake. On Thursday, April 8, 2010, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and the NYS Department of Health issued 21 pages of findings, which concluded: “Most importantly, disposing the sediments in the SCA (in Camillus) will not impact human health or the environment.”
